The Queen And I (Spiggy And The Threadgolds)

Spiggy

Spiggy is an honest person, short, fat and a little careless with his hygiene. He has been a poor person since he was little and he cannot read or write. When he fixes Anne's washing machine, they talk about their lives and Anne discovers that Spiggy doesn't know anything about her, which makes her want to know more about Spiggy. When he finishes fixing the washing machine, Anne tells him to stay overnight for a drink, Spiggy accepts. At night Spiggy takes Anne for a drink  in his van , and Anne wears little baggy clothes, because  she does not want their relationship to be only sexual

Later Spiggy bought Gilbert a working horse which was used for  carrying tourists. He and Anne would take care of him, Spiggy would feed him and make him a stable, and Anne, since she has the biggest garden, would have him in it and give him his daily walks.

After the death of the Queen Mother, Spiggy makes her a coffin which he refuses to be paid for and with Anne's help he will paint a gypsy cart which Gilbert will pull while carrying the queen mother's dead body

In the end Spiggy and Anne become a couple

The threadgolds

They are the neighbours that the royal family have when they are moved to another house because the republic wins. They also are a couple formed by Tony and Beverley Threadgolds.

At the beginning they look kind with the royal family and give them advice and help in some parts of the story, like when the dog of the queen found a rat and Beverley told her that she doesn’t need to worry about the rats, because they don't enter the houses.

Beverley is the one who spends more time with the family, and usually compares them with

babies, because they don’t know how to do the simplest things, like preparing tea.

At the end of the story, we discovered that all the story was a dream, so, in an objective

point of view, the threagolds don’t exist and are only the product of the imagination of

the queen
