The Queen and I: Prince Charles

Prince Charles

In real life:

He was born in London, England; November 14, 1948.

He is the eldest son of Elizabeth II and her  husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

He has 2 children, William and Henry.

Heir to the title of King of the United Kingdom and the kingdoms of the Commonwealth of Nations.

He receives the official title of Duke of Cornwall, Prince of Wales, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew and Lord of the Isles, Duke of Edinburgh and Earl of Chester.

No other heir has been waiting to become a king for longer in history  (69 years and 88 days). When he becomes monarch of the United Kingdom, as expected, he will be the oldest person to do so.

He first entered Hill House School in London, then was educated at Cheam Preparatory School in Berkshire, England, and Gordonstoun, Scotland.

He was educated in the same schools as his father and attended classes in Australia. After graduating in arts from Trinity College, he served in the British Royal Navy between 1971 and 1976.

In addition to English, he speaks French, German and Welsh. He plays the cello, the trumpet, and the piano. Interested in ecology, history, architecture and painting. In the social field, he presides over numerous youth aid organizations.

In 1976 he founded The Prince's Trust. He has promoted organic farming and has raised his voice in favor of caring for the environment. It supports the use of alternative medicine, specifically homeopathy, which is criticized by various medical communities.

In 1981 he married Diana of Wales, with whom he had two children: William and Henry.

In 1966 he divorced her for an alleged infidelity on his part and a year later in 1967, Diana of Wales dies in a car accident.

In 2005 he married his second wife, Camila Parker-Bowles who had always been his real love.

In the book:

I really recommend following this reading with the presentation that you can find here. It is the slide number 10.

In the book Charles is naive and he acts like he doesn't care about living where he lives and having lost the palace. He wants to be operated in order to "kinda repair" his ears because the social security covers it. This is another example of a naive behaviour.

Also, he attacked a policeman and went to prison. He thought that the policeman was being too violent and he attacked him in order to "defend" Beverly.

In the court he discovers that he had fallen in love with beverley, his neighbour. This may be a similarity between beverley (in the book) and camilla (in real life).

Finally the judge found Charles guilty of attacking a policeman and he goes to prison.

In prison he wrote a letter to his mother because he says that the prison's governor treats him better than others because his mother was once the Queen. So, he asks her to talk to the governor and convince him to treat Charles badly and punish him sometimes. This, again, shows his naive and idiot behaviour.

Also we can see that he is not in love with Diana because he doesn't like to read the letters that she has sent.

In the end, Charles, with the help of Diana, escapes from prison to Scotland.
