Today we are going to talk about one of our favorite series called “Skam España”.
Skam España is a remake of a Norwegian series called “ Skam'' which means '' shame” in norgwegian. It was released on 8 September 2018 on Movistar+ . Skam is set in Madrid and it takes place in real time. The plot is about the life of teenagers and their problems . To be more specific , it is about a group of 5 girls , Nora , an american feminist who ends up getting out of a toxic relationship with the help of Alejandro “ El pome” , the fuckboy who had a crush on her since the first season . Eva , a normal girl who kissed a boy at a party and ends breaking up with her boyfriend , Jorge , to start a relationship with the other guy , Cristian , Eva is also Nora’s best friend. Cris , she is the funny one of the group , she had never been in love but when she met Joana that changed , Joana , a girl with mental diseases in treatment . Their relationship was very toxic at first but then they learned about each other and it became healthy relationship . Viri , a girl with economic problems who , in front of the other girls , tried to avoid these issues. Amira , she is like the mum of the group and she always tries to support and solve the problems of the other girls while she has many problems in her life .
We think that Skam Spain is a great series to watch, because it shows social issues(such as toxic relationships, racism, economic problems…), normalizes homosexual relationships, mental health diseases (like the BPD that Joana has), etc.
Our favourite character is Amira, who is performed by Hajar Brown, the lead character of the last season. She is a muslim woman who has to deal with religious intolerance at her high school, and she feels helpless.
It also has a stunning soundtrack with great songs such as “Perdona” by Carolina Durante ft. Amaia
Although the cast was not known, the show was very successful, and the plot made the spectators follow the story eagerly.
In conclusion, people should watch it and even though it is not the best version of Skam, If you want to cry, to laugh and empathize with the characters, It’s one of the best options ever.
I was hesitating between watch this series or not, the trailers did not convince me at all, but this review helped me decide, I will watch it. Thanks! Miguel Ángel
